Dr. Martin Matthaes

The head of the “Help for art collectors” laboratory on Lake Constance comes from a family that has been serving art collectors for decades by helping them determine the authenticity of their artifacts.
The laboratory in Nonnenhorn conducts many scientific analyses. It is equipped with the latest technological applications. Although it specializes in dating wood, it can offer a non-invasive analysis of the surface of paintings to see if they have been restored in the past. It can also take samples of material to distinguish ivory from bone, horns, and artificial ivory. For owners of antique bronze objects, the laboratory offers the analysis of the incrustations with the objective of finding copper oxide.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR VISIT.
